On September 30, 2026, a guest lecture within the “Archival Studies” course (lecturer Olha Vovk) on the topic “Activity of the Kharkiv Region State Archive in the System of Archival Institutions of Ukraine” took place for students of the Faculty of History at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The event was held on the initiative of the Department of Historiography, Heritage Studies, and Archaeology as part of an active cooperation agreement.
The lecture was delivered by alumnae of the faculty and department: Olena Safonova, Deputy Head of the Information, Document Use, and Archival Records Management Department of the Archive, and Valentyna Plysak, Chief Specialist of the same department. They highlighted the history of the institution, the structure of its holdings, and its primary lines of activity.
The presented information sparked genuine interest and a lively discussion among the students. They asked the lecturers a number of questions regarding the digitization of archival collections and finding aids, the declassification of archival documents, and the conditions for accessing document information under martial law.
The guest lecture allowed students to deepen their theoretical knowledge and learn about the nuances of their future profession directly from practicing specialists. Sincere thanks to our colleagues for an informative session and for passing on valuable experience to the new generation of historians!
