On September 25, 2026, as part of the course “Fundamentals of Museology and Art History,” taught by Associate Professor O.H.Pavlova of the Department of Historiography, Heritage Studies and Archaeology, second-year students met with Viktoriia Bulychova, Chief Curator of the Collections of the M.F.Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum, and Alina Muratova, Senior Research Fellow at the Museum. The museum specialists introduced the students to the cultural and artistic project “Church Antiquities: Sloboda Ukraine Code,” implemented by the M.F.Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum in partnership with the V.H.Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
The students learned about the history of the formation of the Museum’s collection of ecclesiastical antiquities, as well as the ongoing work to digitize more than 400 museum objects and create an electronic multimedia catalogue of the collection. Particular attention was paid to a collection of 3D models of 50 museum objects and an interactive virtual 3D exhibition.
The digital resource presented as part of the project will not only contribute to the preservation and study of the museum collection but will also provide scholars, students, and the general public with broader access to it for research and public outreach.
We express our gratitude to the lecturers and all those involved in the project and wish them continued success in its implementation.
