On April 3, 2026, students of the 4th year of the Faculty of History attended a guest lecture within the course “Digital History” (instructor – PhD in History Yevhen Rachkov) titled “3D Technologies and Spatial Methods in the Study of the Past.” The lecture was delivered by Valentyn Shramko, a PhD student at the Department of Historiography, Heritage Studies, and Archaeology of the Faculty of History at V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University.
During the lecture, students were introduced to contemporary approaches to the use of 3D technologies in the humanities. In particular, the lecture covered methods of spatial modeling, digital reconstruction of historical objects, and the possibilities of applying 3D tools in the study and visualization of cultural heritage. Special attention was given to practical examples of the use of these technologies in research projects. The lecture was followed by an active discussion of technical aspects of working with 3D models and the prospects for their application in historical research.
We sincerely thank Valentyn for his insightful and inspiring lecture, and the students for their active participation in the discussion, thoughtful questions, and comments.
