Field Training

Like every other department of the Faculty of History, we run practical training programs in secondary-school teaching and museum work. However, there are several field training programs exclusive to our Department, particularly in archaeology and local studies.

First-year students undergo field training in archaeology after the end of their second semester of study. This training session is mandatory; it completes the theoretical course in archaeology taught in the second semester to all first-year students. It is a three-week program of field work in July and August with a pass/fail grade. Currently, three running archaeological expeditions employ groups of undergraduate trainees: the German-Slavic, Medieval, and Bilsk Expeditions.
