​Guest Lecture on Library Heuristics

On October 31, 2025, as part of the course “Fundamentals of Source Studies”, students of the School of History of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University met with staff from the T. H. Shevchenko “Ukrainica” Department of the V. G. Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library.

The speakers for the students included the Head of the Department, Yuliia Utkina, the Head of the Library and Bibliographic Services Sector, Svitlana Bykova, and the Head of the Scientific Bibliography Sector, Halyna Liakh. The meeting was dedicated to the issues of library heuristics. Students learned about the traditional and electronic reference resources of the scientific library, the components of the bibliographic fund’s reference and search apparatus, and local history services and projects at the V. G. Korolenko KhSSL.

The information gained will facilitate students’ navigation of the book and electronic collections of one of Ukraine’s largest scientific libraries and allow for a better-quality search and selection of source and historiographical material for term papers and, subsequently, diploma theses.
