The "Maidan" publishing house in Kharkiv has released the book "Kharkiv University (1941–1945) in the Memoirs of Its Teachers and Students" (ed. by V. Yu. Ivashchenko, S. I. Posokhov; 514 p.). The publication contains personal accounts (memoirs, diaries, interview transcripts, autobiographies, letters) discussing Kharkiv University during the German-Soviet war of 1941–1945. The authors of these texts are university professors and students who provide insights into the history of the so-called "student battalion," the university's activities during evacuation, and life in the occupied city. The texts in the book vary significantly in content and form, encompassing not only memoirs but also diaries, letters, transcripts, and interviews. Over thirty individuals contributed to the texts, with several being introduced into scholarly circulation for the first time. Compiled together, they create an opportunity to compare presented facts and contribute to what the renowned German historian and cultural theorist Jörn Rüsen termed "intersubjectivity," where we begin to see the common background of an era through the thoughts and assessments expressed by individuals. During the preparation for publication, the editors paid considerable attention to creating comments and compiling an index of names, which includes information about the mentioned individuals. The collection and processing of memoirs, the preparation of comments, and the compilation of the index of surnames were carried out by O. I. Vovk, V. Yu. Ivashchenko, O. I. Kras'ko, S. M. Kudelko, S. I. Posokhov, L. Yu. Posokhova, Ye. S. Rachkov, O. M. Yankul. The editors sincerely thank the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Alberta for the financial support of this publication, as well as everyone who assisted in the search for materials and information, in the preparation for printing, and in the publication of this book. This is already the fourth volume of memoirs about Kharkiv University that has been published.
