Local History Round Table “Regional Studies: Historical Trends and Modern Challenges”

On May 28, 2025, the V. H. Korolenko Kharkiv State Scientific Library hosted a Local History “Toloka” in the format of a roundtable discussion titled “Regional Studies: Historical Trends and Modern Challenges”. The event commemorated the All-Ukrainian Day of Local Lore and the 100th anniversary of the institutionalization of the local lore movement in Ukraine.

Staff from the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology actively participated in organizing and conducting the event. Professor S. M. Kudelko presented a study on “History of the Region, Local Lore, Local and Regional History: Steps of Science”. Associate Professor O. H. Pavlova spoke on “The A. F. Lunyov Art Prize of the International Local History Conference of Young Scientists at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University (2004–2024)”. Lecturer O. I. Vovk presented a research “Bibliographic Handbooks 'One Hundred Local Lore Readings (Chronicle and Content)' as a Source on the History of the Local Lore Movement in the Kharkiv Region”.

In total, over 110 representatives from leading libraries, universities, and research institutions from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Kamianske, and other cities in Ukraine participated in the event as speakers and attendees.
