Museum and Archival Internship 2025

On June 1, 2025, second-year students commenced their academic museum and archival internship in an online format (the internship supervisor from the department is Associate Professor O. H. Pavlova). The interns underwent a safety briefing and were familiarized with the internship programme and schedule, the online course on museum and archival practice, and the tasks they will complete during the internship.

Additionally, at the initiative of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology, a scientific and practical seminar entitled “Museums, Archives, and Libraries of Kharkiv: History and Contemporary Developments” was organized for the interns from July 1 to 3.

The participants were welcomed by the Head of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor S. I. Posokhov. Over the three days, leading specialists in museum, archival, library work, and monument restoration in Kharkiv shared their practical experience in museum and archival activities. In particular, the students heard presentations from O. Y. Denysenko, Head of the Department of Ukrainian Art of the 16th – early 20th centuries, and I. M. Sidelova, Head of the Department of Scientific and Educational Work of the Kharkiv Art Museum; O. M. Soshnikova, Director of the M. F. Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum; M. A. Balychev, Director of the Central State Scientific and Technical Archive of Ukraine (Kharkiv); O. Ya. Karazin Kharkiv National University; and D. O. Filatov, Category II Art Restorer of the Kharkiv Branch of the National Research and Restoration Centre of Ukraine.

The seminar programme provided students with an opportunity to engage with current issues of cultural and educational work in museum and archival institutions. The students were able to meet experts who introduced the interns to the history and dynamic contemporary activities of Kharkiv’s museums and archives.

We are sincerely grateful to all seminar participants for their engaging and informative lectures and wish them continued success in preserving and promoting our historical and cultural heritage.
