Teaching Practice of 4th-Year Students

From February 10 to 23, 2025, fourth-year students from the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology undertook their teaching practice at the Kharkiv Higher Vocational College of Arts.

The faculty supervisor for the practice was V. Ivashchenko, while the departmental supervisors were O. Vovk and Y. Rachkov. The students worked under the direct guidance of the college instructors I. Skyrda and S. Selegeev, who provided support in mastering the fundamentals of pedagogical practice and the methodology of history instruction.

During the practice, the students had the opportunity not only to observe the educational process and learn from the experience of the instructors, but also to independently conduct lessons, develop educational materials, and apply diverse pedagogical approaches.

In addition to their primary educational activities, the trainees initiated and organized an extracurricular event titled "Eurovision through the Lens of War: How Do the Contest Songs of 2022–2024 Represent Ukraine?" This event not only drew the attention of college students to pressing social and cultural issues, but also served as a platform for discussions on the role of music in shaping national identity and the international image of the country. Moreover, the event had a career-oriented component, contributing to the promotion of historical studies among young people.

The teaching practice represented a crucial phase in the students' professional development, enabling them not only to assess their capabilities as educators but also to broaden their perspectives, engage with contemporary challenges in education, and explore innovative approaches to teaching.
