On April 2, 2026, the opening of the exhibition “Museum in a Suitcase” took place at the Museum of Archaeology of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. It is based on the history of the Luhansk Regional Museum of Local Lore, which was displaced twice as a result of the Russo-Ukrainian war and had to revive its activities “from scratch” each time. The event was held with the participation of representatives of the museum and heritage conservation community of Kharkiv, who also shared their memories and cases of preserving and shifting historical and cultural heritage.
Staff members of the Department of Historiography, Heritage Studies, and Archaeology became participants of the event: Associate Professors Olha Pavlova and Iryna Shramko and Lecturer Olha Vovk. Specifically, Iryna Shramko shared the experience of the university’s Museum of Archaeology, especially during the first days and months of the full-scale invasion. Olha Vovk spoke about the heritage conservation activities of the staff of the Department and the Academician P. T. Tronko Centre for Ukrainian Studies and Local History under wartime conditions.
The exhibition was organized by the Luhansk Regional Museum of Local Lore and the NGO “CLIO HUB” with the support of the Geneva Heritage Lab and the University of Fribourg (Switzerland).
