Career Guidance Zoom Meetings within Career Week 2026

As part of Career Week 2026, the Faculty of History hosted a series of online career guidance meetings with representatives of the museum and archival sectors.

On March 23, 2026, a Zoom meeting was held between students and Olha Mykolaivna Soshnikova, Director of the M. F. Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, and Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine. The event focused on the specifics of professional activity in the museum sector, using one of Kharkiv’s leading museum institutions as a case study. During the discussion, Soshnikova outlined the contemporary challenges faced by museums under martial law, shared her professional experience, and reflected on the role of museums in preserving cultural heritage. Particular attention was paid to collection management, museum communication, and interaction with visitors.

On March 30, 2026, a second career guidance meeting took place with Anna Oleksandrivna Alieksieienko, Deputy Director of the Central State Scientific and Technical Archive of Ukraine, who provides organizational and methodological supervision of the Department for the Use of Document Information and the Information Technology Sector. The meeting addressed the specific features of work in the archival field. Alieksieienko presented the main areas of activity of the Archive, emphasized the importance of preserving scientific and technical documentation, and highlighted the role of archives in the contemporary information environment. Participants received practical advice on career opportunities in the archival field.

Both meetings were organized by the Department of Historiography, Heritage Studies, and Archaeology of the Faculty of History at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The events generated considerable interest among students, who had the opportunity to ask questions and receive expert insights from practitioners.

We express our sincere gratitude to O. M. Soshnikova and A. O. Alieksieienko for their informative presentations and engaging discussion, as well as to all students for their active participation in the career guidance events.
