The Archaeological Field Practice Has Commenced

On July 1, 2025, the archaeological field practice for first-year students of the School of History at V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University officially commenced.

Introductory meetings were held between the students and the practice supervisors from the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology, Associate Professors Yevhen Rachkov, Valerii Skyrda, and Iryna Shramko. During these meetings, students received occupational safety briefings and discussed the primary objectives of the practice, its organizational framework, and the requirements for reporting documentation.

This year’s field practice is hosted by several key institutions: Uzhhorod National University, the Bilske Historical and Cultural Reserve, the Educational and Research Laboratory of the "Germanic-Slavic Archaeological Expedition," and the Museum of Archaeology at V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The archaeological field practice is an essential component of the academic curriculum, enabling students to acquire fundamental professional skills in field research, learn the principles of archaeological heritage protection, engage with current trends in archaeological scholarship, and prepare for their future professional careers.
