The Queen Jadwiga Scholarship of the Jagiellonian University

In October 2021, senior lecturer of the Department of Historiography, Source Study, and Archaeology of V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ph.D. Yevhen Rachkov conducted research in Krakow (Poland) sponsored by the Queen Jadwiga Scholarship of the Jagiellonian University. Subjects of the study were the different scientific and public projects which use the digital humanities methods for investigation, preservation and actualization of intangible cultural urban heritage. Most of such projects were initiated by museums of Krakow and research centres. He focused on practical and theoretical results of these projects, their methodologies, and using the information technologies. In particular, he investigated scientific and public projects of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków and International Cultural Centre which focused on intangible cultural urban heritage using the digital humanities methods. He visited and analysed permanent exhibitions of the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków (Town Hall Tower, where is the exhibition “Cyberteka. Kraków − time and space;” Rynek Underground; Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory; Pomorska Street – “People of Kraków in Times of Terror 1939-1945-1956”; Podgórze Museum); Seweryn Udziela Ethnographic Museum in Kraków (Muzeum Etnograficzne im. Seweryna Udzieli w Krakowie), and The Galicia Jewish Museum. He also visited and analysed the exhibition “Ukraine. A different angle on neighbourhood” of the International Cultural Centre in Krakow. He interviewed the teaching staff of Jagiellonian University and Pedagogical University of Cracow (prof. dr hab. Zenon Piech; dr hab. Konrad Wnęk; dr Robert Faracik), the Historical Museum of the City of Kraków (Kamil Stasiak), and the International Cultural Centre in Krakow – Research Institute of European Heritage (dr Beata Nykiel). Discussing the specifics of investigation, preservation and actualization of intangible cultural urban heritage in East Central Europe using the digital humanities methods with the Krakow colleagues interested in the topic. In particular, he attended a meeting of the Polish Heraldic Society (Branch in Krakow), held at Jagiellonian University on 18 October. Moreover, he familiarized with publications on intangible cultural urban heritage, digital history, digital anthropology, digital storytelling, urban history, and post-communist transformations in East Central Europe, in Jagiellonian Library.
