Participation in the RUTA-2025 Conference “Imagination: New Visions and Connections”

On June 26–29, 2025, the RUTA-2025 conference “Imagination: New Visions and Connections” took place in Uzhhorod. The event served as a platform for global dialogue among scholars, artists, and civil society activists from Central, Southeastern, and Eastern Europe, the Baltic States, the Caucasus, as well as Central and Northern Asia. The participants aimed to rethink dominant narratives and explore new approaches to knowledge production, taking into account regional specificities.

Representatives of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology, Associate Professors Viktoriia Ivashchenko and Yuliya Kiselyova, presented the findings of the project “'Moving West': Ukrainian Academics in Conditions of Forced Migration (2014–2024)” within the panel “Academic Migration and the ‘Brain Drain.’” Their research focused on how metaphors of war and migration shape the experiences of displaced academics.
