A lecture-excursion on archival studies was held on the basis of the Central State Scientific and Technical Archive of Ukraine

On October 22, 2024, a virtual lecture-excursion of the Central State Scientific and Technical Archive of Ukraine was held for students of the Faculty of History as part of the academic discipline “Archival Studies”. The CSSTA of Ukraine is a stakeholder organization for the Faculty of History of V. N. Karazin KhNU and the workplace of many graduates of our department.

The event was held on the initiative of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies and Archaeology and was organized within the framework of the current agreements on cooperation between the Department, the Faculty of History and the CSSTA of Ukraine.

Hanna Golubkina, the head of the Department of Information Use of Documents of the CSSTA of Ukraine, met with students at the online lecture “Organization of work of State Archives”. She spoke about the 55-year history of this institution, the peculiarities of the assembly, storage and use of scientific and technical documentation. With the help of virtual technologies, she “guided” the students through the premises of the CSSTA of Ukraine, told them about the directions of work of the main archival divisions, and demonstrated samples of archival documents. She paid special attention to the peculiarities of storing documents in various formats and the technologies used for their preservation and digitization.

Thanks to the virtual lecture-excursion, students not only gained new knowledge of archival science, but also got acquainted with the specifics of the work of a historian-archivist.

We would like to sincerely thank our dear colleagues from the CSSTA of Ukraine for an interesting and informative event! We hope that fruitful cooperation between our institutions will continue in the future.
