Meeting of the Historiography, Source Studies, and Special Historical Disciplines Circle

On November 11, a meeting of the Historiography, Source Studies, and Special Historical Disciplines Circle was held, dedicated to the specifics of analyzing visual sources and their informational potential. At the meeting, two presentations were delivered: first-year master’s student Oleksandra Vorobiova presented “Everyday Life in a Pretty Wrapper: Visual Images in Newspaper Advertisements at the Turn of the 19th–20th Centuries as a Source on the History of Kharkiv,” and fourth-year student Ruslan Lehenkyi presented “Soviet Cartoons of the 1960s–1980s as a Reflection of Their Historical Era.” After the presentations, a discussion took place regarding the functions of visual images in various sociocultural contexts and the methods used to study them.

We sincerely thank the speakers and everyone present for an engaging meeting!
