Meeting of the Historiography, Source Studies, and Special Historical Disciplines Workshop

On September 24, 2025, a meeting of the Historiography, Source Studies, and Special Historical Disciplines Workshop took place. A fourth-year student, head of the Student Research Society of the Faculty of History, Andrii Hrebinnik, delivered a presentation entitled “A Local History of One Village: The Swedish and French Roots of the Name Skalonivka in the Kharkiv Region.” The local history research was the result of systematic genealogical studies of the speaker’s own family history. Andrii managed to reconstruct complex historical contexts, demonstrate primary sources, and present the “laboratory” of source-based inquiry that accompanies local history and genealogical research.

The presentation sparked an active discussion and numerous questions from the participants.

We sincerely thank the speaker and all attendees for an engaging and insightful conversation!
