On 7 May 2025, the Art History Club convened for a lecture delivered by Natalia Andriivna Skorniakova, a distinguished researcher and popularizer of European and Ukrainian costume history, and a postgraduate student at the Department of History, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The lecture was entitled: “Contemporary Studies of Early Modern Costume: Methods, Popularization, Community.”
The speaker familiarized attendees with the current state of costume studies within Ukrainian historiography, the approaches and experiences of leading European research centres in the study and reconstruction of historical dress, as well as the methodologies and theoretical principles employed in this field in the contemporary academic context. Particular emphasis was placed on the speaker’s own research in costume studies and her original reconstructions of historical garments.
On behalf of all participants, we extend our sincere gratitude to Natalia Andriivna for her insightful lecture and wish her continued success in her scholarly endeavours.
