On November 11, 2024, the second meeting of the Archaeology Club for this academic semester took place. This time, the speaker was Mykhailo Ponomarenko, a first-year master’s student and junior researcher at the "Bilsk" Historical and Cultural Reserve. His presentation was titled: “Preliminary Results of Research at the Staryi Karyer Settlement in 2024.”
Mykhailo has been part of the Bilsk Reserve expeditions for several years, joining archaeological work annually, and the excavations at the Staryi Karyer site are no exception. This year's fieldwork was conducted in September, and laboratory processing of the materials is currently ongoing, making the topic of the report very timely. During the meeting, various topics were discussed, including the expedition’s workflow, the volume and dating of the materials found, and future research plans.
The club meeting was attended first-year students and upper-year students, professional archaeologists, graduate students, museum staff, and representatives of cultural and scientific institutions.
