On November 21, 2024, Olha Yosypivna Denysenko, an art historian and head of the Department of National Art from the 16th to the early 20th century at the Kharkiv Art Museum, delivered an online lecture for students of the School of History. The lecture was dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the founding of Karazin University and was titled “Enchanted by Beauty: Henryk Siemiradzki.” Members of the art history student society were involved in organizing the event.
The lecturer focused on the years Siemiradzki spent studying at the university, highlighting the professors and the intellectual environment that influenced the development of the future artist. She emphasized the importance of university education in shaping the artist's personality, supported by documentary evidence, including the fact that Siemiradzki's erudition was highly valued in artistic circles.
Participants also explored the artist's rich creative legacy, the unique features of his artistic technique and style, and how his work was perceived by his contemporaries.
We extend our gratitude to Olha Yosypivna and look forward to future inspiring meetings.
