On November 22, the Student Academic Club of Historiography, Source Studies, and Special Historical Disciplines and a group of students from Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Fine Arts held a joint meeting at the Academy Gallery. Department lecturer Ye.S.Rachkov opened the session with the presentation of the project “Self-representation of multinational cities in the industrial and post-industrial period.” Next, the participants heard and discussed the fourth-year student Darya Sokhranych`s talk on “Kharkiv Street Art: From Graffiti to Murals.” Students of the Academy of Design Oleksandra Modigliani and Anastasia Hudyakova acted as discussants. The lively conversation focused on the questions of whether street art is real art and what role historical analysis plays in the comprehension of its meaning. The members of the department`s Student Academic Club are grateful to V.V.Tarasov (Chair, Department of Social Disciplines and the Humanities, KhDADM) and O.I.Krasko (Fellow, Museum of University History) for their help in the organization of the meeting.
