The 40th International Local History Conference of Young Scientists is held

On December 2, 2022 the School of History of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University hosted the 40th International Local History Conference of Young Scientists “Local History Studies in the Dimensions of Modernity, Retrospect and Perspective”, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hryhorii Skovoroda (1722–1794). There were lecturers of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology in the Organizing Committee of the conference: the Head of the department Prof. Sergiy Posokhov, Prof. Sergiy Kudelko and Dr Olga Pavlova. The organizers of the event, in addition to V. N. Karazin KhNU, were also H. S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University and Kharkiv National Medical University.

On the eve of the conference, a delegation consisting of Prof. Ludmila Posohova, Prof. Sergiy Kudelko, Dr Olha Vovk, Dr Oleksii Yankul, and student Yulia Yeromenko laid flowers at the monument to Hryhorii Skovoroda in Kharkiv.

The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of V. N. Karazin KhNU Anton Panteleimonov, the Dean of the School of History Sergiy Lytovchenko and the Head of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology Prof. Sergiy Posokhov spoke with a welcome speech at the plenary session.

Also the Director of M. F. Sumtsov Kharkiv Historical Museum Olga Soshnikova presented for participants a report on the topic “Places of Hryhorii Skovoroda in Kharkiv Region: Current State and Tasks for the Future”. In addition, interactive photo album “A Frozen Moment: Turning the Pages of the History of the Local History Conference”, where a 40-year photo chronicle of the event is demonstrated, was presented at the plenary session.

The conference included 8 sessions. They brought together with more than 50 students, PhD students, young scientists from many cities of Ukraine: Kyiv, Odesa, Poltava, Chernihiv, as well as from Hungary.

Traditionally, the authors of the best reports by section were rewarded, as well as the laureates of three creative awards. Thus, the report of the student of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies Valeria Ryadynska was recognized as the best in the section ”Local History Studies through the Prism of Art History and Literature Studies”. The student of the same department Serafima Keys became the laureate of the Afanasiy Lunyov award.
