On November 19, 2024, first-year students, within the framework of the course "Historical Geography and Local History," attended a meeting with the staff of the "Ukrainica" Department of the T.G.Shevchenko Institute at the V.H.Korolenko State Scientific Library of Ukraine in Kharkiv. The meeting was attended by Nadiia Polianska (head of the department), Olena Dmytrieva (chief librarian of the department), and Yuliia Utkina (head of the department’s sector).
The students learned about the history, collections, and operating procedures of the library, and received valuable information regarding the library's operations during the martial law period.
Special attention was given to the library's resources for distance learning. Specifically, the main databases of the electronic catalog and the department’s information resources were discussed, including detailed presentations of the "Local History" web resources, archival collections, and virtual exhibitions of the library. Virtual thematic projects of the library, created to assist students of the history faculty, were also highlighted. Additionally, students participated in a virtual informational quest titled "Kharkiv: From Fortress to Capital."
We thank our esteemed colleagues for the engaging presentation and useful information! We wish you success and inspiration in your creative and important work!
