From April 5 to 7, 2023, the chief custodian of the funds of the National Archives of Sweden, Johanna Fries Markiewicz, and the general director of the Swedish Army Museum, Helene Rånlund, paid an official visit to Kharkiv.
The Swedish guests had business meetings with city and region management, and also visited the leading museums and archives of Kharkiv. In particular, Iryna Shramko, associate professor of the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology, director of the Museum of Archeology of V. N. Karazin KhNU, told them about the current state of the museum and the measures taken to save the funds in the war.
Also, as part of the visit, a round table was held. It was dedicated to discuss the current needs of Kharkiv, Kharkiv region and V. N. Karazin KhNU in the field of preservation of historical and cultural heritage. At the round table, a joint report “Project 'СITY AND WAR': Research and Protection of the Urban Cultural Heritage during the Russian-Ukrainian War” was presented by Yevhen Rachkov, associate professor of the department, and Olha Vovk. This report aroused the great interest of other participants. Olha Vovk also gave the guests a tour of the central part of Kharkiv.
