Local lore practice-2021: the program is completed

From June 25 to July 15, 2021 at the Faculty of History of Karazin University continued local lore training and production practice, which was attended by more than 60 students. The initiator of this practice (which has been operating since 2013 and became the first in Ukraine) and its permanent leader is Professor S.M. Kudelko. Classes are held annually on the basis of the University Center for Local Lore named after Academician PT Tronko (head of the practice base - Ph.D. OIga Vovk).

In 2021, the internship took place remotely through the quarantine regime, but all curricula were implemented in full. The main platform for interaction between managers and interns was a distance course on the Moodle platform, which was certified and recognized as a teaching work. All students were instructed in occupational safety and health and received creative tasks that were performed individually or in small groups of 2-4 people. This took into account the skills and interests of students, took into account the topics of their term papers and dissertations, as well as place of residence (actual location at the time of practice).

Students also had the opportunity to improve their knowledge of the history and theory of local lore research. In particular, they were offered texts of lectures and tasks for self-examination in the distance course. An online colloquium was held to discuss the theory, history and current trends in local lore. Also, each student was given an individual topic for writing an essay, in which it was necessary to characterize their home region in terms of archeology, ethnography, architecture, biography, toponymy and more.

While performing creative projects and writing essays, many of the trainees had the opportunity to get acquainted with museum exhibits and work with the funds of libraries in different regions of Ukraine - Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Poltava, Volyn, Kharkiv and others.

We offer for viewing a photo report of a student Lydia Litvinova, who specializes in the Department of Historiography, Source Studies and Archeology. She researched the life and work of the Kosach family in Volyn and during the study of this topic visited the Lesina Vitalnya Memorial Museum in Lutsk and the Lesia Ukrainka Kolodyazhne Literary Memorial Museum.
